Claude Code cloud scheduled tasks
Claude Code cloud scheduled tasks (formerly routines): a saved prompt, one or more GitHub repositories and a set of connectors, run in a Claude Code session on Anthropic-managed infrastructure on a schedule, an API call or a GitHub event. This describes a kind of platform, with the Default cloud environment, not anyone's account. Checked against Anthropic's documentation on 22 October 2026.
- Off for up to
- no time: it is always on
They run in the cloud, so they keep working when the laptop is closed. A run scheduled exactly on the hour can start several minutes late, so schedule a few minutes past it. https://code.claude.com/docs/en/routines https://code.claude.com/docs/en/routines#add-a-schedule-trigger
- Runs steps as
- an AI agent
Each run is a full Claude Code session that carries out the saved prompt without stopping for approval. https://code.claude.com/docs/en/routines#create-a-scheduled-task
- AI from
- anthropic
Claude Code's own agent. https://code.claude.com/docs/en/routines
- Can call
- anthropic, google and amazon
The Default environment's Trusted network access allows only its allowlist, which includes api.anthropic.com, *.googleapis.com (Google's Gemini and Vertex AI APIs) and *.amazonaws.com (Amazon Bedrock). Other model APIs need a Custom or Full environment, or a network secret for their host: list those companies here then. https://code.claude.com/docs/en/cloud-environments#default-allowed-domains https://code.claude.com/docs/en/cloud-environments#add-network-secrets
- Holds
- notes
Each run starts from a fresh clone of the task's GitHub repositories and keeps its changes only by pushing them, to a claude/ branch unless the prompt says otherwise. It holds no local files. So it holds notes only when the notes are kept in one of those repositories. https://code.claude.com/docs/en/routines#repositories-and-branch-permissions https://code.claude.com/docs/en/desktop-scheduled-tasks#compare-scheduling-options
