ChatGPT scheduled tasks in the cloud
Scheduled tasks in ChatGPT on the web, which run in OpenAI's cloud at a chosen time or when a supported Gmail, Slack or GitHub event arrives, and reach outside services through connected apps. This describes a kind of platform, not anyone's account. Checked against OpenAI's documentation on 22 October 2026.
- Off for up to
- no time: it is always on
Web tasks run in the background in the cloud, at the time chosen or when a watched event arrives. A task in the ChatGPT desktop app that works on local files needs the computer on: describe that as Codex on a laptop. https://learn.chatgpt.com/docs/automations https://help.openai.com/en/articles/10291617-scheduled-tasks-in-chatgpt

- an AI agent
Each run is a ChatGPT session that carries out the saved prompt. https://learn.chatgpt.com/docs/automations

- Can call
- none
Code and shell networking in ChatGPT's cloud follows its own network policy, set by the workspace, and OpenAI documents no default that lets a task's code call another model company. So this description claims none. If your workspace allows such a host, list that company here. https://learn.chatgpt.com/docs/enterprise/chatgpt-work-cloud-security
- Holds
- nothing
Web tasks keep no local folder or worktree between runs. They use uploaded files, projects and connected apps, which a workflow draws as connectors rather than as contexts kept here. https://learn.chatgpt.com/docs/automations
